Boasting 3,500 acres on the Saint Martin River, the Isle of Wight Bay and Manklin Creek, and just a short drive on Route 90 to Ocean City, "The Pines" is a mixture of waterfront, golf course and wooded lots and homes, as well as businesses, parks and water-oriented recreation. With a full-time population of 8,500 and a summer population of about 11,000, Ocean Pines has experienced tremendous growth since its founding as a summer resort by Boise Cascade in 1968.

Ocean Pines Recreation & Parks offers a myriad of recreational opportunities for the entire family including classes, seminars, leagues, clubs, and bus trips. The department is also responsible for community events such as the Old-Fashioned Christmas, Spring Celebration, July 4th Fireworks, Beach Bash, Pool Splashes, Family Fun Nights, Amazing Afternoons for Kids and Halloween Hayrides.

Ocean Pines is home to the Delmarva Peninsula's only championship 18-hole golf course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Sr. With tree-lined fairways, heavily guarded greens and subtle undulations on the putting greens, this is one of the most challenging golf courses on the East Coast.

White Horse Park is the largest and most developed park in Ocean Pines. Its 41 acres contain the Ocean Pines Memorial Pavilion, a large playground area, lighted basketball court, two shuffleboard courts, a horseshoe pit, a bocce court, two sand volleyball courts, a 1 mile-long "Fitness Trail", a boat ramp and numerous picnic tables and charcoal grills.

Ocean Pines operates two marinas. The larger of the two is the Yacht Club Marina, which is located in Mumford’s Landing on the Isle of Wight Bay. This facility has 86 docking slips for boats up to 50 feet in length. A second marina is located at the Swim & Racquet Club, on the Saint Martin River. This marina has 22 docking slips and four beach storage spaces for rent.
